Jim was ordained as Church of Scotland minister in 1983, as the minister of Reay in Caithness, later being the minister of Reay linked with Strathy and Halladale. He has been the Minister of Juniper Green since 2000; he is chaplain to both Juniper Green Primary School and Currie Community High School, and in 2016-17 served as Moderator of Edinburgh Presbytery. He thinks that the mission of the church is very important.
Martin has been a member of the Kirk Session in 2008 and took on the role of Session Clerk in 2019. As Session Clerk he is responsible for the functioning of the Session, including the keeping of appropriate records, and providing support to the minister.
Martin is a qualified actuary and is also heavily involved in the Scouts where he is a Deputy District Commissioner and a charity trustee.
My name is Heather Merriman and I have lived in Currie nearly all my life! In August 2017 I began my role as Family Worker for Currie Kirk and Juniper Green Parish Church after previously working for Scripture Union (SU) Scotland. When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, walking in nature and baking.
My role is very varied and in a week I get up to lots of different things! From Toddler groups to committee meetings to youth events, SU groups in schools to Messy Church to visiting Boys Brigade, planning time in the office to church services to teaching in schools – it’s all in there! I love the variety and all the different people I get to meet each week and there are so many opportunities to share the love of God with people.
If you would like to know any more about any of specific aspects of my work or are interested in taking part in any of it, then I’d be delighted to talk you. Please get in touch with me by emailing
