There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
September is a time of major change in our Church. Susan’s time with us is drawing to a close. Our minister Jim is retiring after 23 years of faithful service and our Church continues on its journey to unite with Colinton Church and have a different identity.
Pray for Susan as she moves on in her journey to serve our Lord. Pray for God’s guidance and blessing upon her life and his assurance for her future. Give thanks for her time in Juniper Green and how she has faithfully engaged with our congregation.
Pray for Jim as he nears his retirement. For their hopes and plans as he and Jean settle in their new home and begin a new stage in their life and that God would make straight their path. Give thanks for his faithfulness to God in his preaching of his holy word over 23 years in our Church and for his loving service to our congregation.
Pray for the union of Juniper Green and Colinton Churches. Change brings doubts and concerns but also new hopes and a new identity. Pray for Godly wisdom and guidance for the teams tasked with all aspects of discussions.
Pray for our city as we near the end of yet another successful International Festival. The city has been busier than ever and we pray that visitors have felt welcome and safe. We pray also that there has been a Christian presence in the midst of all the variety of entertainment.
Pray for the economic situation in our country where desperate people are dependent more and more on food banks. For the fear of winter and not being able to heat their homes. For the unrest in so many organisations and more strikes looming.
Pray for our troubled world where war still rages in Ukraine with terrible atrocities and huge losses of lives on both sides. For Maui, Canada and Greece where wild fires have raged out of control with devastating losses. For the effects of soaring temperatures across Europe. For the climate crisis that rages on with the loss of thousands of Emperor penguin chicks because of receding sea ice. Pray for our world leaders to work together to honestly seek to make a difference.
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
